How to hire a photographer or videographer in Türkiye

A practical checklist for comparing portfolios, defining a multi-city or local brief, and confirming travel, production, usage and contract terms.

Start with one useful brief

State the city or route, dates, working hours, deliverables, deadlines and intended usage before requesting prices. Ask every shortlisted provider to quote against the same scope.

Separate base from travel coverage

A studio address shows where a provider is based. It does not prove a local team in every destination. Ask who will attend, where that person or crew will travel from, and which transport, accommodation or location costs are included.

Define the photographs, films and delivery

  • The assignment type, audience and creative references.
  • The cities, venues, access times and working hours.
  • The required stills, films, orientations and file formats.
  • The editing level, first delivery and final deadline.
  • Personal, editorial, internal or commercial usage.

Compare complete written quotes

A useful quote identifies the attending photographer or crew, equipment, production support, travel, editing, delivery, usage, overtime, payment and cancellation terms. A lower headline price is not comparable when important costs or deliverables are omitted.

Confirm location and production responsibilities

Venues, historic sites, private properties, public spaces, drones and larger crews may have different access or permission requirements. Put responsibility for checking and arranging any necessary access, local production support or permits in writing.

Use the directory as a starting point

Review the current profiles, browse services by assignment or choose a destination from the location directory. Availability, identity, insurance, pricing and contracts remain between the client and provider.

Questions international clients ask

How should I compare photographers in different Turkish cities?

Separate where a provider is based from where the provider states that assignments are accepted. Compare the portfolio first, then ask for a written quote that identifies travel time, transport, accommodation, local crew and permit responsibilities.

What information should an international client send first?

Send the city, date, working hours, assignment type, required photographs or films, delivery deadline, intended usage and any venue or access restrictions. A shared written brief makes quotes easier to compare.

Does a directory listing confirm availability across Türkiye?

No. A listing records published work and location evidence. Current availability, the attending person or crew, travel costs and the final scope must be confirmed directly with the provider.
